However, if you must drive, you may be able to find parallel parking along Richmond Road. There are also 4 parking lots close to the wedding activities. You are allowed to park in all “student/faculty” spaces on weekends, but do not park in spaces marked "reserved at all times" or "maintenance vehicle." Facilities Management Lot: This lot behind the Campus Center is the most convenient option to the Wren Chapel. You can access it off of Boundary Street on Grigsby Drive. After parking, take the walking path between the Campus Center buildings and head straight across Jamestown Road to the Wren Building. Zable Stadium: This is the largest lot. It is about a 10 minute (~4 blocks) walk to the Wren Chapel, but it is right in front of the Alumni House. You will walk through or past this lot on your way from the wedding ceremony to the reception. Alumni House: There is a circle lot in front of the building, and you may park along the wooded area behind it (Please do not park in the circle). It is further from the ceremony, but your car would be very convenient at the end of the reception.

  • <H2> HER VERSION
  • <H3> In the beginning...
  • <H4> Peter and I met nearly fifteen years ago in our high school geography class. He sat in front of me and our constant whispering and note-passing likely got us into trouble often. Sorry, Mr. Mac! Our dates consisted of the typical (dare I say, average?) high school activities—late night trips to Taco Bell, the Hampton AMC 24 movie theater, and spooky drives down the haunted Crawford Road. We went to my senior prom in Peter’s parents’ beloved 1999 BMW M Coupe. Who needs a limo when you already have the coolest car in town?! That summer I kept a diary for Peter and gave it to him on the last day before I left for college. Obviously, I signed my entries as “Rachel Szewczyk” like any normal high school girl would do. I knew that Peter was the one…just a decade too early! Yes, Peter saved the diary (and the BMW!), so they may make a special appearance at the wedding. Fast-forward ten years when Peter was feeling nostalgic one late December night about his long-lost faraway love (the plot for every terrible, melodramatic Italian opera). I was also feeling nostalgic that night as I was browsing (read: stalking) Peter’s Facebook profile when, all of a sudden, he sent me a message. I instantly panicked and thought that I must have accidentally “liked” an old photo. Over the years, I would periodically look at Peter’s profile to see where he was living, what he was doing…or if he was single, of course. But I was always careful to not “like” anything! This couldn’t be a coincidence, but sure enough, it was. At the time, I was attending law school in Denver and Peter was living in NYC. He was planning a trip to Denver in February to ski with a buddy, Cujo, and wanted to see “if I wanted to grab a drink, or something.” I interpreted this as “OMG, he wants to see if I’m single and go on a date with me!” But I played it cool and waited a full 12 hours before responding to Peter’s message. I mean I was single, but not desperate. A few days before Peter arrived in Denver, his friend Cujo conveniently bailed to take his medical board exam. This meant that Peter now needed a ride to the mountains and a ski buddy. Thank you, Cujo! So our one-drink date turned into an overnight ski trip. I picked up Peter in my car—RIP little Passat—only to immediately get stuck in a snowbank for over 2 hours. Peter and I tried to dig out my car in sub-zero degree temperatures, while random people were offering us shovels and a helping hand. Eventually, one friendly stranger offered to tow my car out and we were on our way. For any other couple, this snow debacle of 2014 could have easily resulted in an argument, but for us, we had a hilarious story to laugh about on our drive to Denver. Peter and I were joking and bantering back and forth just as we did in high school like we had never missed a beat. (Then I skied perfectly the entire day and there is nothing more to say here.) When I got home the next day, I ran to my roommate’s room and told her, “Omg, I am going to marry Peter one day!” Little did I know…
  • <H2> HIS VERSION
  • <H3> Now, here we are.
  • <H4> …well that was quite the lead-in and I must admit, it only gets better. After I arrived back from the what would prove to be a life-changing “ski” trip in Breckenridge, I knew that this would not be the last time I would see Ms. Rachel Martin. For the next two years, we danced a long-distance tango that even Moria Casan would be proud of and made memories at every turn. How do you turn a 5-mile hike into a “oh no the sun is setting, we’re lost and now gone 13-miles to only make it back to our car vis-à-vis a valiant hitchhiking effort?” Ask us how. Is it possible for one to light her scarf on fire but not herself or the rest of the restaurant? Yep, seen it with my own eyes. What happens when you cheap-out on the camping air mattress during an overnight rain storm? No comment. When the elements or circumstances were seemingly against us, we had more fun and grew closer together. Intelligent, flexible, and tenacious - this was the woman for me. After only several months of living together in our cozy 413 sq. ft. Northern-Gramercy studio, I wanted to make Rachel my forever-roommate. She was my teammate and my best little buddy. With the help of some close friends, family, as well as an esteemed colleague who cut his teeth on the Tobacco-league-baseball-card flea market trade, I was armed to take on the diamond district. I thought this process would terrify me, but I could not have been more excited. A few days and about one-thousand considerations later, the goods were procured and hidden…in my old tennis bag 12 inches underneath where Rachel slept every night (boo-yah!). Rachel and I are addicted to the sun and as such, I knew I wanted to go north on the summer solstice to attempt my proposal. Rachel surprised me the year before with a weekend in Baltimore, and this year, the planning duties for “surprise weekend” were in my court – perfect. I also knew I wanted to catch her off guard – so what better time than right in the middle of her pre-planned Bar-exam study schedule? Actually there were many other better times, I just completely forgot…anyways. After asking Rach’s boss for a day off from work to planning a myriad of activities for the weekend, the legwork was done and the weekend was finally here. On that Saturday morning we’d take a scenic hike up to Gorham Mountain and hopefully become an engaged couple. We got lost on the hike. Again Peter?! How, Peter, HOW?!? Luckily the Google image of the summit was burned in my mind and I knew I had to keep going. Once finally I “navigated” us to the peak, we experienced an awesome view as well as a change in relationship status – fiancés. Fancy. An idyllic lobster-and-cycling filled Maine weekend followed and will forever be engrained in both of our memories. #barharbor #parklooplaps. What an awesome weekend that was. The next step is where we ask you, our very best friends and family to join us in Williamsburg, Virginia on October 7th so that Rachel and I can first and foremost celebrate the impact you all have made on us and that we can also celebrate the next phase in our lives. We just ask you to dance. Ya gotta dance.

Ya gotta dance., ( 0px from top )
